I was turned on to Frank in High School by a friend who had "live"..I thought Frank was the greatest guitarist I had heard..so versatile..able to cut into jazz at a seconds notice..so talented..a picker of strings as opposed to endless hammer-ons and left hand only playing..anyway I have seen him on two continents..I saw him in Columbus, Ga. at Columbus auditoriom with Mothers Finest and someone else I can't remember, and then around 1984 I believe I saw him in good ole London, England when I was stationed in the service..he is by far the most talented I ever heard and I am currently trying to find all his stuff again..(especially Power of Rock N Roll)..Keep up the good work..Don P.S. Frank, you are the best, no doubt!

In 1974 i bought child of novelty , Franks style was very similar to Hendrix, and Hendrix is a God to me. Me and my friends was listening to german progresive music at that time, like Amon Duul 2 etc. So Mahogany Rush came as a knockout to me. Keep on rock´in Frank, I love you´re music. The pure reason that my brother Jack and I play music, is because of Mahogany Rush live at Cal. Jam 2. That was an amazing performance. To us Frank Marino is the most under rated guitarist of our time, yet the most thrilling to listen to. He was doing things on guitar way before Edward Van Halen. He has been my favorite guitarist since 1978. I've played guitar since then and to this day, and it always amazes me how incredible Frank's playing and songs really are!!! please let me know of any up coming shows. signed: Atomic

Frank how's it going???? Hi Willy haven't been in here in 6 months or more good to be back.Frank did you ever get the tape I sent you? Let me Know. Missig you here in the motor city was kind of bummed you didn't stop here i'm sre you have your reasons I know it's been a struggle for you, for us all nowadays. Just remember FREE FROM THE SITUATION CREATED BY MAN!!! That is a powerful song no doubt and in this day and age we got alot to be worried about for sure.Times are changing and big brother is getting the noose tighter f you know what i mean. Patiently waiting the new release hope to see it soon. Jeff says hello as well. (remember us detroit the ritz? Iterrupted your dinner???) It is good to know that you still hold the passion in your heart to play frank. I had wrist surgery this year and all my playing days are done. If you never had to walk away from your music, let me just tell you it sucks extremely badddd!!!!!... So keep rocking my friend your still one f the best in my book and always will be. Todays players are seemingly more prostitutes selling out to the populous of the vagrants hehe to make a so called glorified living but they miss the most important thing about music all together. The LOVE,PASSION

Around 1974 I lived and worked in Detroit,Michigan at a place called the Michigan Palace. It was one of the old theaters built in the 1930's. I worked as a stagehand, I was only 17 years old. One day, my boss gave me the keys to his station wagon and told me to drive to Detroit City Airport to pick up Mahogany Rush from Canada. All I could think of was, what band from Canada would dare call themselves "RUSH"? There already was a RUSH from Canada. I picked up Frank and a roadie,(I think ),named or nicknamed Angel. Frank was very cordial, but kind of quiet. Angel began to tell me the legend of Frank. I will never forget this wild story... Frank had overdosed on L.S.D., and was in the hospital, totally out of it! One day he came out of his self-induced,coma-like bad trip. The first thing he asked for was a guitar, this was strange since Frank played drums. Frank told of a dream where he was "flying through a forest of redwood trees", an out of body experience as it were. As he recovered, he began to play his new instrument very much like Jimi Hendrix. Angel said Frank had never listened to Hendrix as a fan so he couldn't have known what he was playing. He felt he had the reincarnated spirit of Jimi Hendrix. This was a wild story, My friends told me this guy was " full of #*x@ ". But that evening it didn't matter, after I loaded out the equipment, and went home, I was hooked!!! I was a true FAN. Frank didn't try to copy another guitar player, to me he was a true ORIGINAL! I have been a FAN ever since. When I see a new release by him, it makes me feel good to know he's OK and still doing well.

BUT FRANK IS IN A CLASS BYHIMSELF, AND WE SHOULD BE SO LUCKY TO HAVEA CHANCE TO SEE HIM PERFORM LIVE. I CAN ONLY SAY THIS....CBS, AND 20TH CENTURY, GIVE BACKWHAT TRULY DOESNT BELONG TO YOU. Can't wait for the new disc Frank....Willy may have hit on a cool title for the disc in his newsletter re: Chat #2......"Return Trip", especially if it harkens back to them good ol' days like we been hearing. The idea of bonus tracks is awesome too, especially if you have a killer blues remake you been wanting to octane boost, or a tune by some other band that influenced you. Don't matter what it is...we know you'll give it life it never had before. It's great to see your name on the cover of a mag again..Vintage Guitar. Coupled with this website, and the new disc coming, it's going to be great year for Frank Marino fans. I'm pumped!!! (Had "Plastic Man" cranked so loud on the way to work this morning, I mighta done some damage!) Take care and god bless! Thanks Willy!!! KC (Fan since Maxoooooom!)

The guy has an original voice on the instrument. His phrasing and use of SOUND are as inventive and tasteful as any guitarist I can think of. How many musicians can play balls to the wall with subtlety and taste? Very few.

There's more to a great guitar player than just technical ability. There's style and grace. And Frank has got it all !!!

A friend of mine.. alot younger than me, asked if I could help him install his car stereo for him. Well coming from a technical background and having been in the installation business back in the 80's I said sure man. I hate seeing lamp-cord and bandaids holdin up someones music business, so I installed his 120 Watt CD player and 4 Speakers into a 1968 Dodge Dart. Lots O fun I tell ya. But man this thing sounded Killer.. and his face was just lit up cause it sounded so good.. Well I did this job for a cheese-burger and a large fry as payment and wondered if I could do any thing else to fire this Kid up? He didint have no Rap music in the car only a new copy of LA Woman. I was impressed.. A few months ago I was trying really hard to get a copy of Maxoom on CD. I already had the Max/Child/Universe but wanted it for Genuine selfish obsessive reasons.. Well I orderd it from three places and finally ended up with two copies Damn!! Not cheap!! So I thought to myself "self" Put the Maxoom in.. I really felt like Influencing this minor!! so I said Here you can borrow this CD.. Now the other day I was over at his house helping fix the family computers, and as I drive out I see these Long Hair Kids hangin out on the street around the car, so I tells em ta Turn down that Damn Rock an Roll!! and they says Oh yea!! it's yer CD.. And I said.. No its not! It's Yours.. Rock on Broskys... I'm pretty sure that was buddy playin on that radio.. and Im absolutly sure they found a new one.. Wait till they find the rest of em.. HA! HA! Chow Mein..

I'm 39 and have been in to Mahagany Rush since the release of Maxoom, or at least from Maxoom to MR Live. After MR Live I went through some life changes -- you never know what life's gonna throw at you. (which resulted in the loss of all my albums). I saw Frank and the band around "76" I think it was in New Haven Connecticut. The band did not disapoint. I've never felt so much energy fill so much space before. I miss that feeling. Soon after that I lost touch with the band. For years I felt like my music was dying. The 80's really sucked for me. It wasn't till the Seatle sounds of Pearl Jam and SoundGarden that I felt good about music again. About a half hour ago I was sitting at the computer thinking about the good old days and I thought to myself," let me look-up Mahagony Rush on the Internet and see if I find anything", and Bamm!!! up came this site. Where can I find that great rock and roll blues music that once help to ease my mind, and made me feel that there was more to life than the 9-5 prison, and those shitty morning drive into work radio shows? Cause when I find it, I'll drive in with the windows rolled down and the CD blastin..... ....Wee've got an old rock and roll blue tune that goes way back its call I'm a King Bee Babay.. DIG IT!!!!! Frank, Paul, and Jimbo Thanks for the music, may I have some more?
