My very first concert was in 1979 at The Pennsylvania Jam. Bands like Ted Nugent, Scorpions, Blackfoot , Edgar Winter, and of course Frank Marino performed.I never heard of Frank at the time. Let me tell you He absolutely stole the show. To this day I credit his performance as the reason for my obsession for the electric guitar today. Thank You Frank. I hope to see you on the road again. I had been listening to Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush for years when this band call Van Halen came around. People where just blown away by EVH guitar work which I thought was mind blowing as well, but I had heard it all before.
It is so hard to find the proper adjectives to describe Frank Marino's guitar playing. I don't think the internet could handle just my praise. Been playing around guitars since I was a kid and Frank is Still ..... The Man.

I first saw Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. I was hooked. Then, I went and saw the band at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, as well as at California Jam II. The YouTube of "The Answer" from the upcoming DVD is great and I can't wait for the DVD to be available. Will buy it immediately! Thanks for everything and all the best to Frank Marino and bandmates past, present and future.

Frank, as a person and musician, you have been and continue to be such an inspiration to me. Your accuracy, brevity, and clarity in music, as well as, the history and state of the music industry in general, is second to none. I've always wanted to meet you and would jump at the chance to fly to Montreal to even spend 30 minutes or more for a guitar lesson, whatever the cost. Feel free to contact me anytime via email or on Facebook via Memphis James. Thank you for all of the honesty and great music! Keep Rocking On..!

Sincerely,

Memphis James...

I was blown away on August 5,1978. I came to see Aerosmith and AC/DC. No idea how Foreigner and Walter Egan got put in this mix. When you hit the stage with "The Answer" I thought my trippin' took me to another rock n roll universe. I bought the Album the next day while on the same trip. Those days are gone. The new music out there is pretty weak with Metallica and Rob Zombie(to name a few) being the exception. I still have your live album! Keep Rockin'! Do a tour! Us Baby Boomerz need some relief here...the US is falling apart, rock us back!crazy

Live from 1978 is probably the album ive listened to the most. I only had one friend who knew about you and fortunately he turned me on to Frank otherwise I may have never heard of him. I'm going to sign for my friend Rick Hobby of Raritan, Illinois who passed away from cancer. More power to Frank!!!

Hey Frank,
Just so you know, I never contact or comment on many of the players that I admire, and there are plenty of them for different reasons. I am a guitar player as well (who loves his SG!) which I hope qualifies me to say that your style, technical ability, and great vocals combined with your super creativity are truly genius! I remember attending one of your concerts at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago back in the 70’s when we we’re both kids and was blown away! I was even more blown away after listening to your albums and still am to this day. It’s regrettable that the Columbia Records didn’t have the courage to let you do your thing because you would have plenty of listeners. You will always be at the top of my list of best artists brother!!! Keep playing!!!

Hey Frank!!! Thank you so much for sharing your music and Mahogany Rush!
Especially the heavy rhythms and beautiful wailings of your leads! I grew up on your music and stuff of other legends, played loud! I never saw you live
but maybe I can if you make it back to these parts again. And if not, thanks for the sweet memories. I hope all is well with you!

Saw you all at the Civic Center in El Paso, TX in 1978. Sammy Hagar opened up for you all. You rocked the house, incredible avalanche of sound and visuals. I was proud to learn you are 50% Arabic and I presume Jimmy Ayoub is also of Arab decent. I am half Syrian and half Mexican from El Paso, but left El Paso in 1979 for Dallas, TX. I have a 40 year high school reunion coming up and your band's name came up on Facebook chats as one of the "hard core" concerts that hit El Paso back in the day. You played Cal Jam II that same year, and also Oakland on the green in 1979. I was wondering why Jimmy left the band? Wishing you all the best. Definitely an echo from my past.
