I think that the coolest thing about blues it that it is so free. An artist can do what ever he likes, but the rythm behind him is what gives a bluesy feeling to the music. So much of today's music has it's roots in blues- it's living on in everyones music. I think jonny and kenny are two very talented young men and I hope, as a young singer, that they continue on in what they're doing. They're so inspiring, and they introduced me to the blues and I love it now! I just think the whole point of music is expression, and staying strictly in a particular genre isn't really expression- it's nothing. Let teh artists do what they do. Let them be expressive!

Hi there,it´s good to find a very well constructed homepage for FRANK MARINO, one of my favourite guitarrists and influeces.Sadly I never had the chance to see FM performing - the last time he was in Germany was in 1982, since then he was advertised a couple of times, but the tours never happened. I hope that this situation could be improved, for I guess I´m speaking on behalf of a lot of people wanting to see him.Keep on rockin´Hartmut Kreckel from Berlin/Germany

Hi fellow Marino Fans! I found Mahogany Rush when sifting through records in a store in the San Fernando Valley in 1975. I'd never heard of Mahogany Rush but loved the cover art of the Child of the Novelty Album and bought it. Fell in love with the music. Just two short weeks later, my parents who were fanatical born-again Christians, found my album stash and burnt all my albums in a ceremonial bonfire with the church elders! I was devastated. However, a few years ago while shuffling through a used record pile I found another copy of the vinyl album. I was overjoyed and bought it immediately. I've listened to it many times since and as always am thrilled at the sound of Frank's guitar and his intriguing music. I hope that a tour will ensue soon so that I can finally hear him play live!!! I first heard of Frank when I saw him play on a TV special about the Cal Jam 2 concert. I ran out and bought the Live albumn on Columbia records. I was only about 14 years old and I remember the record store guy being impressed with my purchase and telling me that I should also check out Pat Travers Heat in the Street. Those were two of my faves. I have not had the opportunity to see him in concert. I desperately want to remedy that. He was supposed to play at a show in Sacramento opening for UFO sometime around 1979/80 which would have been my first concert. For reasons that I don't recall, he could not do the show. My friends and I returned our tickets because we bought them to see Frank. I have spent many an hour playing guitar along with Frank's records, including lot's of time emulating his solo's and his World War type divebomb sounds. It was great fun. Again I am really hoping that Frank can make it to the Sacramento Area on his upcoming tour. I look forward to his new album.

Frank--Im a 39 yr old weekend warrior working club musician in austin.(guitar)- we rotate between 10 or 12 clubs-- doing cover/orig stuff--anyway, we play cds on break--to keep em dancing, and have been slipping in "satisfy your soul" along with the newer stuff, --because were all big frank fans in the band.and we get a kick out of it. ,and it packs the floor.--everytime.. so a group of young rockers in a band came to the stage and asked who is that??so i told em--and the next time we played there, they had the 1st 3 album pack.--they were 18-19 i guess.they had never heard of you. now theyre BIG fans--i gave em willys site address.-they were FULL of questions--Small world huh??--Best to you--Thanks-Tim Johnson..

How are you, Frank? It must have been somewhere in 1978 that I first heard your music. It was on a national radiostation and the song was Purple Haze from 'Live'. I recall the roar of the audience, your dedication to Jimi and then all of a sudden the monster-riff from Purple Haze. I was twelve years old and I remember sitting in my bedroom, doing my homework and feeling this surge of electricity in my body. What a song. So I bought 'Live' and man, that sure was a piece of dynamite for the pre-adolescent I was. Has it ever occurred to you that there are hundreds, perhaps thousands of people all over the world who've never been the same after hearing 'Electric Reflections of War' 'Ain't Dead Yet', 'In My Ways' or 'Juggernaut'? I am not sounding dramatic when I say that -impressionable as I was at the age of twelve- your album shaped my outlook on rock 'n roll music for the rest of my life. Thanx! I saw you play, together with a friend of mine, in Amsterdam in 1983. You played for more than three hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me and about 10 of my friends have been huge fans for about 20 years now. I've seen you live 6 times. They're some of the best shows we've ever seen. Look forward to your new album and tour. I'll be checking the website to see what's happening.

I was turned on to Frank back in 1979 by my older brother and have been hooked ever since. My favorite album is got to be "Power of Rock and Roll". As far as a favorite song hardly a day goes by when I don't listen to "Poppy" kinda gets my day off to a great start. I wish I would have been one of the lucky few who got to see you at the Old Absinthe House in New Orleans what a great show. Anyway eagerly anticipating your new release and tour and rocking out to Frank Live for the first time.

I was at Curtis Hixon Hall in Tampa for the tour that would become the Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush Live albumn. That was a great show. I think what I enjoyed most about the late 1970's is that you toured Florida frequently. I'm looking forward to seeing a live set soon, please keep Florida in mind.

Great site. I have been a Mahogany Rush fan since the 70's and I think that Frank's contribution to music has been greatly underappreciated. Thanks to this site I think more people will find his music and groove on it like I have over the years.

Howdy Frank, Posting for my third or fourth time here. Just wanted to say that I recently took delivery of the British Import on Columbia Legacy Series of World Anthem. I didn't play my vinyl copy alot anymore because of deteriorating condition. It is definitely great to hear this album again without alot of scratches. However, the vinyl copy still retains a certain warmth that the CD can't touch. It doesn't appear that CBS did a digital remaster on this one. This does not diminish my excitement over hearing this again though. I just think they could have taken a little more care by doing a remaster. World Anthem is a real underrated album. Songs like Requiem, Hey Little Lover, and especially In My Ways make the CD worth 3x the price!! I forgot just what a spectacular song In My Ways was. Great arrangements, killer message in the lyrics. I look forward to the release of the new album, and just wish we could have heard you a little better on the Brian Lee album. Just a note to say that "California Jam II" was available on CD at some point because last September, I bought a copy on disc from A&B Sound here in Vancouver. It was in a clearance bin for $7.99 on CBS "Nice Price" series. L8R. PS. Please come to Vancouver or Upper Washington State on your next tour so we can see you live again. Cheers!

I'm a 38 year old CAD/CAM engineer, and former lead guitar player from a local band called "On Edge". Just wanted to say that I just put on my old "Mahogany Rush Live" album for the first time since the '70s!! I've been listening to the "newer" rock guitarists over the years... Satriani, Johnson, Vai, Van Halen, etc. but I must admit, Frank is one of THE fastest, and had the best overall "screamer" sound, even way back then! Just wanted to find out where he's at these days, and am glad to see that a new album and possible tour are coming up. Hope you can make it to Wisconsin, and turn on a whole new generation of "guitar freaks". Thanks again, and "just ask the Axis".

Frank: It´s been a long time since I heard your first record (Tales of the Unexpected), and would like to say that this record is fantastic. What happened with your music? Are you retired ? or just taking your time to start playing again? Also what happened to your original band, do they still play with you (old bassist guitar and the drummer) Please keep playing your music it´s fantastic... Gustavo

Great Site - glad to know you're still making Music. I caught a gig once at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester in 76/77 or there abouts - the old memory is a bit hazy these days. Loved the gig and still play the live album, which is the only recording I ever bought (on casette). If you ever tour the UK again - I'll be there!
