I haven't heard any MR on radio since the 80's. I was able to get on a radio station( as a guest DJ)-KDXR and KACV FM90 Amarillo College in Amarillo TX in the mid 80's. I played Land of a 1000 Nights. I could feel a hush fall over the listeners. It gave me chills.
I would love the chance to do it again here in Houston on our new station KIOL
103.7. They took over the format that was left open by Rock 101. I guess everyone knows by now that KLOL is dead, thanks to Clear Channel.
We Love you Wendy,Outlaw Dave,Pruitt, Walton & Johnson and you too Locke, you idiot. hehe

The first time I heard Frank Marino I was blown away. It was in the late seventies on an 8 track . California Jam 2...wow. I was always into guitar as a kid like,Page, Clapton,Nugent,Beck, and into the eighties with bands like Dokken, Saxon, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and especially Gary Moore. But I always will remember how many times I listened to that eight track. I had to catch the guitar solo in 'J be good' on 2 different tracks due to the switching of tracks in the middle of the song. Wow that will take you back. My brother bought me the Frank Marino and Mohogany Rush Live album for my 13th birthday I beleive to save me from the disco craze. But needless to say that wasn't too much a concern due to my love of real guitar playing. I love the fact that he is true to his music and playing and hope someday to see Frank live. There are still good bands out there you just have to look and don't give up. I love Sivertide and Alter Bridge and a band I saw with Van Halen winter called Jonas. Talent is out there and it's not all commercial and it's not all rap. I guess I am getting old because I just don't get how that's considered music or the so called artists are thought of as musicians. With stolen sound bites or riffs I just feel that there is no love for the making of good music or practicing an instrument. Hats off to those women and men still devoted to being a musician. And to the young boys and girls picking up a guitar for the first time please practice we need you! Thanx Kelly Mckee Auburn Indiana

I have to concur with another recent guestbook entry about this website and your music. I also felt like I re-discovered a long lost room in my house.
I went to a concert back in 1980 where you came on second and I didn't know who you were, had never heard your music. For that matter, I never heard much from the other 3 bands either. We just wanted a concert to go to. My friend and I were left spellbound. I was just starting to play guitar, so naturally I was amazed. The local radio here never supported your music. They would play your version of Roadhouse Blues, but rarely. I lost touch until I asked a friend about Strange Dreams, which we were hearing on the radio. He said its Frank Marino. I said, of Mahogany Rush, He said, I don't know, who's Mahogany Rush. Anyway, same thing. The local radio did not support your music. I hadn't thought about the band in 25 years til about 3 months ago. Don't know why, but something prompted me to search the web and I found this site. I went rushing back to those brief moments of contact with your music and now I feel like a missing piece of my life has been put back where it belongs. Keep making music. I'll support your music here in this town.

I have heard all the rumors and dismiss the critics you are among the greats and # 1 on my list of guitarists who are under appreciated by the mainstream , however adored by your fans. I would like to know where I can find a copy of the she's not there crossroads & poppy suite. You are an inspiration to us all!

I am originaly from Matane,Quebec.wich is where I saw Frank and Mahogany Rush live for the first time alongside April Wine and Morse Code at the arena I must have been 14. A few months later Frank,Paul and Jim came to my highschool...man I still remember that as one of my best concert moments because I got to talk with the guys and of course got autographs on a pack of smokes...I don't know where the hell it is today but it doesn;t matter really because the souvenir of that day is always with me.
Now some 32 years later I still hold this guy as one of my guitar heroes. And I can't wait to hear more of him.

Hi, I have just heard Frank's recordings and thought that i must know everything about Frank. I think that many nowadays guitarists are doing the same thing that Frank did long time ago. The only problem for me is that there is a lack of Frank's recordings in my country and it is impossible to get his albums. But anyway god bless the internet!!!!!!!!!! that's where i got couple of his songs. I lerned a lot of guitar things from it. great stuff!!!!!!!!!!

smileHi, Frank it's jim in austin, Texas. You have been an inspiration to me all through my illness (leukemia) and I memorized your live record during my radiation therapy. I was rocking through it all laugh. I've dug your music since 1978. Always had verbal fights with my Jimmy Page lover friends. But I knew you were king. I had a bone marrow transplant 10 years ago, and I'm still rocking........Thanks for the tunes.....your fan always.....JIM BUTLER.

Frank

Just wanted to say Hi. The first time I ever heard of you was "Strange Dreams" back in '82 I think. I was only 12, but I loved that tune. But time goes on, and I forgot about it until recently. I heard it for the first time in over twenty years. Hard to describe how COOL that felt. It was like finding an old room in my house that I forgot was there. It was just waiting to be discovered again.

I myself am a musician/guitarist although I picked up the guitar later on with different influences such as Allan Holdsworth, Pat Metheny and the whole "shoegazing" thing with bands such as Ride, Lush, My Bloody Valentine etc. I primarily play classical pieces at the moment. You obviously Rip quite mightily my friend and are very inspiring and a bit humbling. I mean I can play and shred but it just sounds like it's pouring out of you man. I read your Bio on here and read about that "bad" trip you had. I had a couple of bad experiences myself with drugs and can marginally relate to that.

Your trip that put you in the hospital was certainly "bad". But it seems to me that you would not have dedicated yourself to the guitar and music with such ferocity were it not for that experience and the world wouldn't be the same.

Fighting those demons made us all better my friend. We thank you.

Much Love and Respect.

Adam

laugh I'm a long time fan. I first saw you in 1978 at MSG and then again at LaMores in Brooklyn in 1982. I went to the show at BB Kings with a bunch of buddys who have all grown up listening to your music. You made a comment at the beginning of the show about getting older, but like a fine wine you have gotten better with age.

Real Live is one of the greatest albums I've every heard and your performance the other night surpassed it. Somehow your versions of Voodoo Chile, Stories of a Hero, and Avalon were even more amazing. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the always welcome concert standard, Poppy were equally as impressive.

I know that tours like this may not be a profitable as you would like, but you have to realize that you have thousands of loyal fans out here who need to see you and hear your music.

I heard wind that you are working on a blues album and I hope it is true because I can't wait to hear it.
